Atlas Statue and St Patrick’s Cathedral
A post for MonochromeMonday - initiated by @old-guy-photos

A recent shot of the Atlas Statue in front of the Rockerfeller Center, I took this shot from this angle with the ST Patrick’s Cathedral in the Background
A little about the Statue itself
It is a collaboration between two artists, Lee Lawrie, who conceived the idea and designed the figure, and Rene Chambellan, who modeled the heroic-sized statue from his sketch.
It is made in Art Deco style and stands 45 Feet Tall ( thats about 14M) or roughly the height of a 4 story building, and weights about 7 tons (6,400 Kg)
It was unveiled in 1937 and there were some protest at the time where people thought it looked like Benito Mussolini
If you watched 30 Rock apparently it featured in every episode.
