Seek the Lord while he can be found. Inseavor it while it is nearby (Is 55,6). The spiritual destiny of every man, rather than his human destiny, depends on seizing the opportunity. There are certain times when God speaks to us. In that God invites us in a decisive way. Accepting or rejecting it in those moments depends on the course of our spiritual life.
Seek the Lord while he can be found. It is true that man always seeks God. Almost all of our steps mark the traces of our search for God. The greedy one who is never satisfied expresses his longing deflected by an infinite reality. The licentious man who lives perpetually in hunt for carnal experiences manifests a vehement desire for unsatisfied fullness.
The same must be said of the ambitious and the adventurer and of all the dissatisfied. They seek how infinite God is, but they seek Him where God is not. The same melancholy response gives us science and glory and human love. No matter how intense and serious efforts we make, we are always disappointed. We always hear the voice of things that tell us, "We are not your God. Look higher!" Everything, absolutely, gives us a resounding no. Everything dissatisfies us. Everything has an essential hasate. It's all fatigue! The bride is fatigued, the woman is fat, full of glory and vanity.
Only God is always new. Always divinely interesting! But we must seek Him while there is a chance to find Him, and we must look for Him where He is. Let us not look for it in the superb and foolish books entitled "History of Religions", where they are all studied, with the false impartiality of the one who believes in none. We will never find the true God there.
Let us not seek God in theosophism invented by men. We will only find God in Jesus Christ. He who sees me sees my Father, saith the Lord (Jn 12:45). Meeting Jesus Christ is the only way to find the true God. Outside of Him, we find ourselves with the myth, in any of its forms. But Jesus Christ, where will we find Him? We will find him alone, humbly and with faith, in the Catholic Church. Only the Catholic Church possesses Jesus Christ. Let us not expect to find the true Jesus Christ outside the Mother Church; and if any, apparently separated from the bodeof the Church, ever found the true Christ, that means that it belonged to the soul of the Catholic Church, even if it were far from the body.
We all know that there are many in the Catholic Church who are and are not and many who are and are not. Let us hear the voice of our mother Church, who tells us: Seek the Lord as he can be found. Inseavor him while he's nearby.
