Prayer is one of the subjects on which as believers we will always need to reflect, this to discover new experiences around that dialogue that God as Father wants to establish with all his sons and daughters. So I want to propose that we think about an experience that the word tells us about prayer. If we meditate on it it is possible that our relationship with God be accretive and we can live our dialogue with him as a transformative space.

The Book of 1 Samuel 1, 15 tells us about the moment of prayer that a woman of the name of Anna lives; She in need of God comes to his presence and being there a man named Eli asks what is he doing so quietly? The answer given by this woman to the question is what today leads us to think about an indispensable element in prayer.

"... I have not taken wine or alcoholic beverage, but I was expanding my heart in front of the Lord." (v 15) Let us fall into the account that for this woman prayer is to expand the heart before God, that is, to open it completely before him. Tell him what's in the depths of us.

The heart is understood by St. John Eudes as the mind, thoughts, memories, will, desire, in a word, refers to the whole human being. So when Ana says she is expanding the heart she wants to indicate that she is giving authority and power to God to dispose of her whole being. He is inviting him to each of the areas of his life, even the most intimate as are the memories.

How beautiful it would be that the next time we pray we open all our lives before God and with it we give him authority to make us what he wants. Do not forget to pray is to expand the heart.
