A pleasant variety has appeared in the schedule of tree blossoms this year in our city. In the park on New Holland Island, an alley of bushes was planted, blooming earlier than the apple and cherry trees.
Usually the blooming of fruit trees begins in early May, and the first to bloom is the sakura. Sakura, as you know, is a collective name for several species of plums and cherries that have particularly beautiful blossoms. Several of these trees have been specially planted in various city parks and the Botanical Gardens. They bloom before the leaves appear on the trees, and the pink clouds of tree crowns look unusually beautiful.
Then the foliage appears on the trees and soon the bird cherry begins to bloom, joined by cherry and apple trees, chestnuts bloom... In late May and early June even residential neighborhoods with typical buildings are transformed, there is no need to look for special places for walks, you can just wander from one yard to another, enjoying the shades of white and pink flowers and their subtle scent.
This year, Peter the Great Botanical Garden has taken care of everyone who wants to do some admiring, and published on its website a calendar of blossoms not only of the sakura, but also of cherry, almond, apple trees... You have to visit a botanical garden to see rare trees in bloom, but you can find bird cherry or apple trees anywhere.
One day, when the sakura blossoms were almost over and the bird cherry blossoms had just begun, I was walking along New Holland Island, and I noticed an avenue of bushes with large white flowers. The renovation in this part of the island was completed last year, and that's when the bushes appeared along the building, and this was the first time I had observed this blooming. I went to the information center to find out the name of these bushes.
I learned that Irga Canadian bushes were planted along the renovated building. At my grandmother's dacha, a lush bush of Irga Canadian grew. My sister and me as children loved to enjoy the sweet berries, but never once did we see the Irga bloom. The blossoms would end before our school classes were over.
The few apple trees growing in the next alley hadn't bloomed yet. I could only find the buds, but the Irga was in full bloom.
A week later I visited New Holland Island again. During this short period, almost all of the flowers of the Irga had fallen off, but the flowers on the apple trees were in bloom. This is the same alley as in the pictures above, but it has changed a lot in a week.
