Yes and that is why they are ideal to use as confirmation for a trade. The fact that they lag means the move is already in play. Trying to always catch the bottom and top is rarely fruitful. Simply, it is impossible to do consistently.
An indicator is very valuable to avoid the big swings and to not get caught on the wrong side of big moves.
Like anything, there are drawbacks and false readings. The perfect market indicator has yet to be developed.
