From what I gathered, Elon mentioned the cost to build would be less than $20K so they would go for a bit higher.
I see them moving into the commercial realm once they are released. Of course, it will depend upon the abilities. Another thing I noticed is they said they want to mass produce something rather inexpensive as compared to having a super advanced robot that costs a great deal (say $500K).
So I see this going into factories and other work environments to start. If it could replace an employee, then it is well worth it. For probably less than a year salary plus benefits, the bot would have a quick ROI.
I am not sure we will see the bot as a personal butler anytime soon.
