That was always the case.
The idea that all governments will agree is preposterous. In fact, the way geopolitics are, some countries might take the other side simply because of who is on the opposite one.
As you say, it the US and EU take a hard stance against BTC, Russia and China might turn around and embrace it.
There there are some smaller countries that see the value and allow development in their countries. Suddenly, they start closing the gap on a global scale.
To me, the key is getting crypto in enough people's hands that if the governments try to stifle stuff, they will get a backlash like they never imagined. 100 million people globally do not cut it, we need at least 10x that.
