Steem and Hive do appear to be going in two different directions in terms of the criteria you cited.

The former is making a move towards centralization which cannot be denied. Hive, on the other hand, embraced the original tenets that Steem started with.

People are mostly cross posting, I think, while they still are being rewarded. As power downs take place, there is going to be little incentive for many to keep posting.

That said, two app, Steempeak (Peakd) and Actifit are utilizing both chains. I am sure there are more.

We will have to see how it all unfolds.
