Have you tried Zappl yet? If not, I suggest you do. This could realistically be the thing that sends the value of $HIVE to the moon.
Yesterday I sent out my first Zap. Here it is.
I am sure you are wondering what is so groundbreaking about this? How could I conclude from one Zap that it is going to affect the price of $HIVE in any significant way while being enormous for this blockchain?
My answer to that is simple: money and learning curve.
Taking a look at my Zap, you will see it earned $.14. Two things come into play here. To start, this Zap took all of 10 seconds to create. Personally, I had articles I spent a lot of time on net me $.25 so this is an incredible return. The second thing about this is that I have no following on Zap. I just signed up and sent out a Zap. Imagine if I had 500 or 1,000 people following me.
I was not one to do a lot of Twitter but I have done it.
Net earnings: $0.00.
The reason I mention learning curve is that it is one of the drawbacks to the grow on Hive. People get accustomed to Facebook or Reddit, making it hard to switch. Many of us, on here, experienced the same thing when trying to go from Hive.blog to another application. The differences in interface means that one has to learn something different. This is not what people naturally gravitate towards.
When entering Zap, it took all of about 5 minutes to figure out. The interface is very basic and, from what I remember, similar to Twitter. This is what makes Zappl a hidden gem. If people can come over from Twitter and simply start Zapping (for money) within minutes, that will be huge.
The one drawback I found is that the Zap ended up in the blog section on Hive. While I appreciate the idea of followers being able to track everything someone does, I can foresee getting into a "Zap war" with someone and that "conversation" ending up on the blog. I prefer if the developers change that to put the Zaps in the comments section if they are going to tie them into Hive.
That said, Zappl can be huge. Twitter has a large following with millions of tweets being done each hour. Most of these people are out there promoting something they are doing in an effort to gain recognition and money. Zap handles both in a more direct manner.
EDIT: Another drawback....since Zappl is tied to the blog section, one can only post every 5 minutes. This really needs to be corrected. You cannot have a microblogging/conversation site like that and limit people to Zapping every 5 minutes. The developers really need to correct this immediately unless they want to kill Zappl.
One other aspect that is worthy of mentioning is that Zappl allows for 240 characters which is about 100 more than Twitter. While not earth shattering it is a significant difference.
In conclusion, people can either Tweet for free or Zap for money.
Imagine if the President of the U.S, with all the tweeting he does used Zap...he would be a billionaire if he did that.
