Those of us on Steem are familiar with the "Proof-Of-Brain" concept that was spelled out in the Steem Whitepaper. While some can contest the delivery mechanism and the system around it, what is being proven is that brainpower have value.
Thus far, Steem is a small fish in the large pond of the world. When we look at the size of projects taking place, even the entire blockchain ecosystem is minute up to this point. Fortunately, it is a growing industry and I feel we are close to seeing some major players entering the realm.
One company made the mainstream news with its vision. It helps that Elon Musk is behind it. Whether one likes him or not, the truth is he attracts a lot of attention. Hence, his projects tend to be well covered. It is also no secret that Musk does not abide by the established rules. Again, this could be viewed as positive or negative but, it does always make the news.
This flows down to his projects. Obviously, Tesla is the most known with SpaceX not far behind. A third project that received a lot of coverage is the Hyperloop project. This company seeks to change the world of transportation completely.
It should come as no surprise that a Musk backed company will tend to think a bit differently. Not only is it looking to disrupt the established norm, it also is willing to stray into areas that are on the outskirts.
At this moment, what is more outskirt than cryptocurrency and tokenization?
That could be changing. Hyperloop, according to the CEO is looking at getting into tokenization. In fact, he validated the concept of Proof-Of-Brain.
“70,000 skilled engineers’ hours have gone into Hyperloop. In exchange for this, we give them stock options. In 2013, that was very naughty. Right now, it’s easy. If you think about it, we tokenise it already from the inception of the company.
This is an amazing concept.
He then goes on to refer to brains.
“Now you don’t need to raise money, you can raise brains. This is the most exciting promise that we are working on. It’s even bigger than the hyperloop.
Being on Steem, it is a concept that we overlook quite often. That said, it is truly a novel idea and a radical shift in thinking. Brainpower does have value and now there is a way to compensate people for it. Under the old system, companies tended to get most of the benefits of that brain power.
On a side note, I love how he also smashes the idea of banks and how we no longer need them. As an intermediary service, it is no longer vital like it was before. Tokenization allows the blockchain to be the trusted party.
It is interesting to see others see the same thing we do on here each day. People's contributions do have value and not all of it is equal. The idea of funding projects through "brains" is novel, something worth exploring over the next few years.
