InitiaitiveQ is a new project that is building a payment system to replace the fragmented, out-of-date system we are presently using.
This project seeks to put tokens in the hands of both users and merchants. Their idea is that new payment systems fail since vendors do not want to join a new system where there is no commerce taking place. At the same time, users do not want a payment system that has no place to spend the monty.
InitiativeQ is not a cryptocurrency. It is a digital currency that they seek to provide a sufficient number to ensure there is enough to be used as a currency. Their belief is that cryptocurrency operates on a scarcity model which makes it tough to be used as a currency.
An alternative approach to estimating the value of Qs is by studying the cryptocurrency market, which is another attempt to create a new currency. So far, cryptocurrencies have failed as currencies. Their focus is on ensuring scarcity (i.e. that no one can easily generate new coins), but they neglect stability of value and ease of use. This makes them ill-suited for trade, with nearly all activity fueled by speculation

I do not know if this will ever amount to anything yet it is worth amassing some tokens. I feel they might have a tough time against the growth I expect from cryptocurrency. Nevertheless, getting some and hodling could be profitable at some point.
