Much of humanity's lifespan was spent teetering on the brink of destruction. Life essentially was a quest for survival.

I wrote a number of times that if one does not understand what is happening with technology, then one is lost as to what is taking place.

It is only recently that segments of the human race were able to get off the merry-go-round of waffling between survival and destruction. Realistically, it is the last 100 years that witnessed mankind rise up. It coincided with advancements in technology.

Of course, followers understand that we are only at the tip of the iceberg. What we saw over the last 50 years is nothing compared to what will take place over the next 20 or 25. We are going to see things that radically alter how we live.

This is already creating problems within society. The adaptation of humans is slower than technology. The move towards abundance is on yet most are still mired in the tenets of scarcity. While we cannot say that abundance is here, we are getting very close. I maintain that cryptocurrency is one of the major moves in this direction.

There will come a day when "earning a living" will seem absurd. Will this take place in a decade or a century, I cannot tell you. However, there will come a day when society has an abundant economy.

What does that look like? Basically it is one where all goods, services, and information are free, or near free. Most of the essentials that are required for a high standard of living are provided via technology.

Naturally, we might see stages of technological evolution but it is on the way. 4D printing is an example of this. Many heard about 3D printing and the potential disruption that provides. 4D presents a world where "no assembly is required".

This is a lead in to the next stage which could be nanofactories. These will be desktop devices in our homes that use raw materials to create whatever we want at an atomic level. Since matter is made up of carbon, we can atomically create whatever is needed.

Here is a video that really explains what could be used in the future.

What does a world look like where labor is no longer needed to manufacture or assemble things? One thing that will fade away is the idea of greed. When gold can be created at any moment, what is the value of that metal? We literally will be able to turn lead into gold (or anything else desires).

This could seem far-fetched to many. However, we already saw the transformation. Consider the abundance we already have in communication. Any of us, as long as we have an Internet connection, can talk to anyone around the world for free. There was a time, not too long ago, where there was a cost per minute to communicate long distance. Another fact was it was mostly voice transmission. Today, we have free sending of voice, text, and video.

Does anyone believe this will be the only realm where this occurs? This idea to someone in the 1950s would seem like science-fiction. Yet we have it today.

This idea is going to penetrate every facet of society. Cryptocurrency is creating an abundance in money. It is an idea that economists cannot wrap their heads around. They simply do not understand passed their theories that were created in a physical world. The digital realm is a completely different animal. Labor and capital take a new meaning.

Of course, automation is adding another layer to the conversation.

This is the path that communication took. So did video, music, and information. Notice what it all started with: digitization. Since we digitized money and gave the ability to create it to everyone, we will see an identical progression. Democratization is another word for abundance. Communication, music, video, and information are all now abundant to us today whereas they were scarce a couple decades ago.

The shift towards abundance is going to happen faster than people think. This will cause a re-evaluation of what is important. I believe we will see more people focusing upon doing those things that are meaningful to them instead of slaving away to "earn a living".

Since the Internet came to money, it is already changing the world.
