Well now this is an interesting topic. Death I find is something we do not talk about in public. Why? Well, like many subjects it’s because it’s usually approached with pain and is a definitive line in the sand for us. We also do not like to think about our own mortality. Religion has its part to play for making this conversation redundant, for thousands of years there wasn’t a conversation to be had as it was forced upon the human race that in death there is life, a flowery beautiful world filled with clouds or virgins depending on which of the 4,200 religions you subscribe to, and you really do subscribe to it. Perhaps the reason we don’t discuss death is because once you click the subscribe button to your religion or ideology then that takes care of it for you. In my view it’s the lazy way out. It means we do not have to think for ourselves, completely understandable actually. With all the different topics and subjects to engage in and wrap our head around, if there is something I can take that fills in as many of the gaps, well then I understand the want for it. It’s still lazy thinking but understandable lazy thinking, no different to that of someone who pays a personal trainer or hires an accountant, they do the jobs we don’t want to think about.

Death is actually a fascinating subject. It’s in death that we remain human, perhaps in knowing we all have a limited time to experience the existence of consciousness and life is sort of exciting, it means I get to understand to a greater degree time management and choosing how to spend time, as that is the greatest commodity we all have.

Do you know that according the Cancer Research UK “1 in 2 people in the UK born after 1960 will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during their lifetime” Staggering but true. I know people that have had cancer and lived and some that have died, it’s a part of life and yet with these odds it baffles me a little someone can be nonplus about the finite time we have on this planet. If we are lucky we’ll live til we are 80 or maybe even a hundred. Think about how old you are now and how many years you have left, if that isn’t a kick up the ass to go and live the life you want, to try and fail or succeed but try nevertheless, well then I do not know what is.
