Targim - ancient city in Ingushetia. Located in Dzheirahsky area. Now abandoned village. On the territory of the settlement city there is an architectural complex "Targim", represented by many historical objects: ancient cyclopean dwellings of tower type, 4 combat towers, 4 - semi-battle and 16 dilapidated residential towers, as well as 19 crypt burial grounds, 2 mausoleums and 5 sanctuaries. At present, these objects of Ingush architecture and the entire territory of the settlement are included in the Djeirakh-Assinsky State Historical-Architectural and Natural Museum-Reserve and are under state protection. According to one of the versions, the name of the settlement took shape when the Ingush, having left the Dakastyte plains (“Land of the Fathers”), went to the mountains. According to the legend, the powerful castle fortresses Targim, Egikal and Hamkhi in the valley GIalgIai Koashka (“Gulf of Yards”) were founded by three brothers - the sons of the legendary Albi Erd (in other sources Ha). The youngest of them was Targim (TIargam), who settled across the river Assa, according to another version, TIargam is translated as “shield”.
