What are you packing in your drawers?

Another night, another night of building IKEA furniture. I don't mind it though for the most part, as it is satisfying to be able to see the progress quickly on something I "made", which reminds me of a story I heard at university about the first pre-mixed cakes.

Apparently, when they were first brought to market in the 30s, they didn't sell at all, however with a few adjustments, they became very popular. The reason they didn't sell was because housewives didn't feel they could say that they had baked, something that they saw as part of their job. So, the company who made it changed the recipe so that rather than just adding water, it required adding an egg and some milk too and they started selling.

It isn't that hard to hack consumer behavior.

So, what is in my drawers?

Last night @edicted wrote a post mentioning HIVE going to 50 dollars and as crazy as that sounds, it isn't impossible by any measure, except of those who believe it is impossible. The current market cap of HIVE is about 200 million and the price is about 50 cents, so it would have to go one hundred times to hit the 50 dollar mark, putting the mcap at 20 billion. Seems crazy for sure, but give it time.

Of course, it is great to fantasize about those kinds of prices and pretty much anyone with a bit of HIVE would be excited if they woke up to a 100x gain. It would put the value of my account at about 12 million dollars, but I am not expecting to ever see that, but I will take it if it happens. For me, I would be happy to see 1 dollar, 2 would be great, 5 would be insane. 10x from here would see me a millionaire and the value of my curation would be at around 350 dollars a day, which is well more than my salary.

When I picked my wife up from work, she asked about my day and I told her how it is pretty challenging. She said that she hopes that one day, I won't have to work at this place and I can just do my own business instead. I like my work and the company and I took the job for increased opportunity and the extra money, but money buys opportunity too, so it doesn't matter that much where it comes from.

And this is where it gets interesting if the bull market decides to go 10x, as while it would be brilliant on HIVE in terms of curation, earnings and all the other accoutrements, it wouldn't be constrained just to Hive. As Edicted mentioned in a comment to me, there is also CUB and Splinterlands, LEO and whatever else I have in other holdings.

For example, 10x on CUB would be brilliant for me and 7 dollar tokens would be great, but I am in other pools there too, so if for example, BTC and BN also went even 2x, the daily yield would be very healthy indeed and it would be very hard to justify keeping my job, unless I was able to significantly alter parts of what I was doing, so I could spend more time on the things that I enjoy the most, because that kind of income would be able to provide enough for me to do far more of what I want, without having to be employed by anyone at all.

And of course, I wouldn't be the only one in this position, there would be thousands on HIVE and millions all around the world finding themselves with far more options than perhaps they even realized were possible.

Like @abh12345 was saying in his last post about it being fine if it takes another 5 months or 5 years, I am much the same. I have already been around for almost five years in crypto, but it really doesn't feel that long, even though so much has changed in the industry and, it is only going to change at a faster rate going forward. A lot of impatient people have come and gone, but if five years down the track things finally happen, will they be happy they got out?

I suspect not, despite what they say. Of course, who knows what will become of the world in five years as it might very well be a nuclear wasteland, but living as if that is going to be the outcome, doesn't lead to a healthy or happy experience. For me at least, I have to live as if things are going to work out well, otherwise there is no real point in doing much of anything at all. If it doesn't work out well, I have lost nothing, if it it does, I will have something in my drawers to use.

Just like building the IKEA cabinets, I get enjoyment from building my account, the difference being that this is something I actually create from scratch. Other than my past experience, nothing is pre-mixed and ready and every day I get the opportunity to use some of my time and resources to develop something new and continue building. It is satisfying to see a post come together daily and my account grow over time, but what is the best bit of it all is that I can see the same thing happening all over the network.

There are so many people benefiting daily from being here that it is incredible that there are still those who are negative about the future of the platform. Of course, each individual here can have a very different experience, but considering where we started and the journey so far, it is amazing that so many people are able to have the opportunity to completely change their lives in ways they might never have had available in their world otherwise.

When it comes to that positive future outcome, I hope when people open their drawers, they have something of value to hold, instead of regrets.
