We say things like 'I will never'... But, how often does never happen?
When we create our moral lines, we are ignorant of many facts, many experiences, and situations we may one day face. Sometimes, our lines are based on societal norms or peer judgements and even though we say these things, they are no more than some kind of signalling for acceptance or to build or maintain reputation.
I am sure there are many people that when young said, I will never smoke, or drink or have a one night stand. How many live their life having avoided all of their self-imposed lines?
I think it is not healthy to enforce such a strict rule to many things as they have been made without all of the information the future will bring and action should be based on circumstance, not expectation or arbitrary rule.
As humans, we are very good at justifying why we broke our rule or a societal norm. 'I shall not kill'...unless. Does having a justification make it better or does it just fool the mind?
We have probably all crossed lines we once had and it may be of seemingly little consequence. With each line crossed though, the next is a little closer, where does it end?
