It is a bit of a strange sideways feel at the moment in the markets, as while overall the markets aren't too bad considering the past, some like HIVE are performing very badly. It makes me feel like a green bear.
Obviously, there is a lot of uncertainty in the markets in general, with political, geopolitical, economic and technological challenges weighing heavily. The recent hit Nvidia took on its share price was interesting, because I suspect it is just more manipulation - because at this point, it is well and truly overvalued - sell the hype. It isn't that AI isn't going to make a massive impact on the market, but in many cases, businesses are struggling to find clear usecase with business value that warrants spending the amount to integrate and by licenses for solutions like copilot. They all want it, but don't know what to do with it. This will clear up in the future, but by the time it does, there will be a massive amount of competition in the field.
Competition brings down prices.
This is also what has been happening in the electric car markets, where people have been paying premiums for years and now that there is the combination of people who would buy already bought, and the flood of brands coming in from subsidized Chinese brands, the ass is dropping out of the inflated prices. Again, it is the hype that has died, not the importance of the industry itself.
At some point, all industries have to balance and when it comes to AI, and electric cars, there is still a very long way to go in terms of development. And then there is crypto, which is still in its infancy, even compared to electric vehicles and AI. And the "no usecase" is a valid argument against crypto, especially because there are still many alternatives to it that have market share, because they are peddled by the governments themselves, and have legislated market share.
The EU are imposing tariffs on Chinese vehicles now, and other countries will follow suit, because they are saying "it isn't fair" that these car manufacturers are flooding the market on the back of Chinese government subsidies. Which is kind of funny if you think about it, because this is what the governments do to protect themselves at the expense of their people. In countries where there is cost of living pressures mounting year on year based on poor government practices, in an industry that has had inflated consumer costs even though it has benefited from years of taxpayer funding, and an industry that is meant to help meet the climate targets that taxpayers are also funding, they don't want competition to lower prices and increase adoption?
What are they protecting?
Themselves of course. Everything they do is for their own benefit, it doesn't matter what it is. They can fuck an economy to harm the people financially, then bring in austerity measures and increased taxes to cover their fuckups to harm again, and call it for our benefit. They can limit our access to what helps us medically and then make us pay a premium for what doesn't cure, but prolongs, and take away our freedom of choice. They can do this over and over, administration after administration in a million ways, and we keep thinking that "we just have to choose better" - but that is not the case.
A better government as we know it is not the solution. A dissolution of government as we know it is the solution, because it is fundamentally flawed from years of abuse, corruption and misalignment of incentives. There should be a single incentive for all governance - to improve the human experience. This covers everything, from opportunity to economy, health to purpose.
The problem is, we have been led to believe that there is no competition to what we know, and as a result we are paying a premium for it. We are paying financially, physically and emotionally and at some point, we are going to say, there has to be a better way. And we will create it, support it, grow it, evolve it, and eventually live it.
We are in a societal bear market.
As a society we are languishing, we are suffering, we are devalued and we are struggling to find usecase for ourselves as humans. This is not a natural situation, it is more manipulation from the top, to make sure that they stay there in control.
We are moving sideways, because we are told that is the way we have to go.
