Since it is the end of Hive Power Up Day, I decided to take the last of my HIVE from exchanges and power it back up. I have been providing liquidity there for the last few months, but the return has been dropping as the futures volume and multiplier has decreased - I assume. Sometimes I was getting 20 percent there, sometimes when HIVE was pumping up, it went to 40 to 60 percent, but at the moment it is around 5 percent, or about half of what curation earns. I might move some back there in the future, because I like to have some liquid and now I don't.
A massive pump must be incoming!
I have been trying to get more comfortable moving Hive around and using it in different ways than only voting, but it still feels weird to power it up and down. However, it is a resource, and resources are meant to be used - even if the goal is to have more of it than when starting. I made a few small trades a few months ago, but nothing significant. The last couple months I have just been holding firm, doing very little.
Probably a few more months of that ahead.
Just around the corner.
I have been around so many corners over the last few years, it would be nice if one of them had some financial security behind it. Not that money is everything, but for a lot of the issues I am currently facing personally and with family, it sure would help to have more of it. I get why so many people find avoidance vehicles to spend their time with, rather than dealing with all the various problems in life - both personal, and having to think about all the other ongoing shit with other people.
My "avoidance mechanism" currently is doing stuff around the house to make it nicer in some way - but it is still somewhat avoiding other aspects of life, isn't it? Well, at least it is taking my mind off of some of the things that are influencing me, but are outside of my control. And, while not ideally healthy, I guess it has some value for life and maybe the house itself - If I do it well enough, that is.
That's a big if.
Hive power up day shouldn't really need a day, because I reckon every day is a good day to powerup some HIVE. But, it is a good reminder for some people perhaps. I think a lot of people who choose not to powerup (or keep half powered up) don't fully realise what might happen in the advent it does actually get some support. Sure, they might be taking it out and investing into other tokens, but I reckon there are also a lot of people using it to supplement their income to live. That might seem like "the only way" but what would their option have been if Hive wasn't available to earn for them? It is an extra revenue stream for sure, but it is also an investment opportunity for the future. If people need to live off of it now but aren't investing any for the future - it means they are always going to need.
I need too. But I seem to keep taking the risk that this will work out. It might not. But, I would likely be no worse off than I would have been otherwise. However, if it does work out, I might be significantly better off at a level I wouldn't have been able to accomplish otherwise.
If a flip of a coin could win you one hundred, how much are you willing to lose to take the bet?
Most would risk about fifty.
And I think that the risk on Hive has a far better risk profile than that. It might still be fifty-fifty if it works or not, but the return is likely far, far greater than the majority of people have risked. Most have risked nothing but their time and effort - and many haven't risked much of that even. Hive at a dollar changes many lives. Hive at five dollars changes many lives significantly.
Can Hive be worth five dollars?
Of course. Will it though? Well, that is another question entirely. but, the world does work in weird ways and sometimes stars align to catalyse results that seemed impossible earlier. Right now, there are a lot of stars moving all over the place and it is hard to predict where they are going to fall - but if Hive were to catch a falling star,
Do you have enough HIVE in your pocket?
Hive is a great place, because you can earn HIVE through activity.
But it doesn't force you to save any.
That is up to you.
