It would serve us all well to remember that we are all migrants/immigrants to some extent or degree if you roll the clock back far enough.

Sometimes you don't need to look that far back, as in the case of the Irish, even my generation left in large numbers for better prospects, Ireland in the 80's had good beer, good scenery but no jobs :-), I am one of those recent economic migrants, I packed my bag 38yrs ago and made my life elsewhere, so did my younger sister, by the time our youngest sister was old enough to evaluate prospects, the Celtic Tiger was in full swing and she had options

I breaks my heart ( and makes me rather angry) today , when I see and hear the vile anti migrant rhetoric in Ireland, the complete hypocrisy of it makes my blood boil. I discuss it with family members and it's like they forget that I am an economic migrant, like that is somehow different.

Never the less, it's great to see a happy celebration
