The temperature in Beijing drops to sub-zero levels in the winter, and January is the coldest month of the year. As it is already the end of January, all the water bodies are now frozen, including the lakes and rivers. It is more true for the northern region where I am living now. Almost all the lakes and rivers are now completely frozen. There are several rivers around the area where I am living in the Huairou district, which I have talked about in my previous blogs.
Today I am going to share some clicks of the Yanqi lake, which is also completely frozen in this winter, where I have a sudden visit this weekend, as it was quite a warm day for having some outdoor activities during this freezing time. I found a handful of visitors due to the weekend in this cold in the lake area, but there are no people in the lake as it is strictly prohibited to do any kind of activities in the area. And I saw many security people in the area to prohibit people from entering in the lake.
The Yanqi Lake is now completely frozen, and there is no reflection on the water as it is now frozen with the white and blue colors with the mixed ice appearances. The depth of the lakes is very high, which makes it very risky to face any accidental occurrences; that is why the lake is not allowed to do any winter activities.
I have enjoyed the views there, especially the mountains which are clearly visible as the weather was very clean with excellent air quality. I also saw the dead nature in this winter bit still the surrounding beauty is quite beautiful to explore in the area which will be born again in the coming spring time when the green will be in abundance in this area.
