ACEH BESAR

Aceh Besar District is one of the districts in Aceh Province, Indonesia. Before splitting up in the late 1970s, the capital of Aceh Besar District was Banda Aceh City, then Banda Aceh City split into municipality so that the capital of Aceh Besar district moved to Jantho area in Seulawah Mountains. Aceh Besar district is also the birthplace of national hero Cut Nyak Dhien from Lampadang.

While Aceh was still a kingdom, Aceh or the Kingdom of Aceh was an area now known as Aceh Besar Regency plus some kenegerian / regions that had become part of Pidie District. In addition, it also includes Pulau Weh (now the city of Sabang), part of the city government of Banda Aceh, and some kenegerian / areas of the West Aceh district. Aceh Besar in Aceh terms is called Aceh Rayeuk. The mention of Aceh Rayeuk as the real Aceh because this area which originally became the core of the Kingdom of Aceh and also because therein lies the working capital named Bandar Aceh or Bandar Aceh Darussalam. To name Aceh Rayeuk there is also called Aceh Lhee Sagoe (Aceh Tiga Sagi).

Currently, Aceh Besar is a district within the province of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, with its capital city of Jantho. However, in Jantho City there are only residential complexes and government offices, no inn or hotel. Jantho City is linked with labi-labi with a distance of 60 km from Banda Aceh, 28 km to Saree, and 12 km to the main road of Banda Aceh - Medan. Approximately 12 km from Jantho City there is a waterfall.
