I'm taking an opportunity to explain what all my photos meant to me. This is definitely not one of the rules of the challenge, its just something I wanted to do on my own initative!
So.
This is my brand new coffee machine. This picture does represent my love for coffee, but it also represents early mornings, moments stolen for myself before the rush of the day, and how this short ritual of my morning cup of coffee helps set my thoughts in a good pattern for the day.
This picture also covers a few different subjects! For one, it represents my love for art and my hours of practice honing my skills as an artist. It also represents my first fur-baby! Portrayed in this charcoal drawing is my border collie mix Oreo. She joined our family shortly after my husband and I first met and settled into a life together. She passed her 12th birthday not long ago, and we fear she will not be with us for much longer, as her health has begun to rapidly decline over the last couple months. It will be hard to lose her, but she has been immortalized in this drawing and will never be far from our hearts!
Ah, the piano. It represents my musical abilities, for it's the first instrument I learned. It represents discipline; any accomplished musician will tell you that those hours and hours of practice are not terribly fun, but are absolutely necessary to hone your skills. And finally it represents a gift: this piano was given to me by my aunt, who passed away from cancer several years ago. I am so glad I can finally give it a proud place within my home!
Sheep are literally my life, ask anyone that knows me. I raise sheep myself, and am on my way to depending on them for my livelihood in the very near future. I also shear sheep, for myself and other shepherds around my province. The sheep represent mentorship, how I have learned so much from older shepherds and shearers. And they also represent my love for fibre. I really enjoy knitting, and I want to learn to prepare and spin my own wool into yarn as well.
The laptop represents my love for writing and imagination, and my nervous attempts at being tech savvy. I am by no means a "computer whiz," but I try to understand at least the basics. It also represents the future, because I am sure, at least for the next while, that technology is going to become a much larger part of everyone's life!
The Bible, as you may have guessed, represents my faith in Jesus. I will be the first to tell you that I am not a particularly good Christian, most of the time I'm an utter failure at accepting grace and living my life as though I have done so. I'm a terrible, horrible, garbage person, an embarassment to any good upstanding congregation. And yet here I am, still trying and trusting!
Ugh. The dishes. My absolute least-favoirite chore. This picture represents the struggles I have on a day to day basis to try to be a responsible adult and mother to my children. The picture could have been my usual mountain of laundry, or the toy-covered floor, or the perpetual mess in my bathroom. I do NOT like housework. And yet, it has to be done. And somehow, it is! My husband helps a lot wherever he can, for which I'm eternally thankful. And, you know, my kids have clean clothes to wear, even if I have to pull them out of the dryer. We have meals to eat, even if I have to wash a pot to cook it in. So I suppose we really aren't doing so bad after all.
Thank you for reading through my explanation! I hope it helps you 'get to know me' a little better.
