Rainbows, colours in the sky from another dimension or just science we don't get? Hey guys, have you ever wondered what the colour strick in sky is after a heavy down pour of rain is or how it comes about? Well, its called a rainbow and how its formed, well continue reading.

A rainbow is a meteorlogical formation in the sky cause by reflection, refraction and dispersion of light in water droplets which causes a spectrum of light forming in the sky. It normally takes the form of multicolored arcs which we know to be ROYGBIV, the colours of the rainbow.

For a primary rainbow, the red is on the outer arc and the violet on the inner one. This is caused by refraction of light when its entering the water, then its reflected at the back of the droplet and again when the light is leaving the droplet of water.

A rainbow is not found at a specific distance from the viewer but is an optical illusion caused by the water droplets seen from a certain angle thats is relative to the light source. This explains that the rainbow is not a physical object that can be touched or approached as it goes further away as the angle changes relative to the light source. This means that even if i am looking at a rainbow, someone else with me cannot view the same rainbow as i am. It is impossible for a person to view a rainbow at angle other than the normal 42°.

Rainbows are know to spread into a continuous spectrum of colours such that anything different that is seen is as a result of the human colour vision. In black and white, a rainbow cannot be seen but just a smooth intensity in the gradation of colour from maximum outer colour of the rainbow and then fades away as it gets to the other side. Rainbows are caused by different types of airborne water like rain, mist, dew.

Finally, Rainbows can be seen when there are water drops in the air and sunlight shining from behind the person viewing it at a low altitude angle. Due to this, rainbows are usually seen in skies in the west in the morning and in the east, early evenings.

The most beautiful rainbow display happens when half of the sky is still dark with rainy clouds and the observer is at a spot with clear skies in the direction of the sun. What results is a visible luminous rainbow which has a contrast to the dark sky.

That's it for today guys.
