Some days ago there was a great holiday devoted to Maslenitsa - the day of meeting spring and saying Goodbye to winter.
It's an ancient holiday known for many centuries, and it's great we still try to keep and celebrate it.

As a rule on Maslenitsa people cook pancakes (blini in Russia) as a symbol of the Sun and Spring.
We cooked them as well, but moreover, we decided to make a handmade toy in Russian style with Russian soul.

Just look what we were doing for a couple of hours;)

starting...

at first my son painted all wooden details

balalaika - a symbol of Russia, a musical instrument

samovar - a Russian symbol as well, an ancient alternative for a teapot;)

blini (pancakes) are real!;)

and that's how they all looked together

it was a cool family handmade, and we liked the result;)

and you?:)

do you have the same holidays for meeting spring?
