Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well!!
To be honest, I didn't have the urge to paint flowers. Of course, I love them very much, but I had no desire to draw them.
But one of the artists with whom I occasionally draw online was giving a master class on painting flowers with oil paints. My first thought was: I'm not very interested, and I paint not with oils but with acrylics. But then I thought that I could learn something, some new skills. And I decided to draw it.
First, we painted the background as usual. Then they marked the table on which the vase of flowers would stand and began to draw this vase.
This time there was no reference, we just repeated after the artist and from our heads.
I don’t like to draw without a reference: there is nothing in my head yet to take something from there 😁, but I also don’t like just repeating what the artist does. Therefore, I searched the Internet for pictures with similar flowers. This is how it was so much better! 😀
The artist explained that the flowers should be drawn tilted in different ways. Some are looking at us and some are leaning to the side. It turned out to be difficult for me since I have no experience of observing such subtleties 😕
Therefore, the flowers turned out to be almost the same in my drawing. Ok now I will try to pay attention to this.
I wanted to stop there, but my husband said that my vase looks flat: I need to add shadows to it. I had to try and this is what I got in the end:
Yes, it looks terrible 😁. But for the first try, it's quite normal. I don’t set too high a level for myself, because the first time almost never turns out well. The main thing is that I got new drawing skills and now I understand a little the pattern of drawing flowers. The rest is practice and more practice! 😀
