This week I can only talk about my grand purchase - knitting yarn. I have never bought this yarn online before. You need to feel it, look at the thickness of the thread in the yarn, consider the color. But the pandemic dictates its own rules: during this time, we have all been forced to learn a lot of new things for us. In our case, these are online purchases of goods that I previously bought only in stores.
Before taking the risk of doing this, my husband and I weigh the risks: that is, how much we can afford to lose in this case, so as not to be upset beyond measure if the goods do not come as we need.
The virus is still raging in our country, although, as we are told, this wave is subsiding. Almost 100 people die per day, and now our Ministry of Health claims that the virus was not as safe as previously thought. Therefore, we also do not visit shops except for the market and those where we can buy food. To buy yarn, my husband started looking for online stores. Unfortunately, yarn stores in Europe are not profitable for us, since the delivery price is too high. It remains to search on Aliexpress and the like as you can find there goods with an acceptable shipping price.
And my husband really found suitable options. As you know, we shouldn’t count on photos, so we paid more attention to the store’s rating and customer reviews. Especially buyers from our country: demanding and practical. Well, if they give a positive review about the product, then it is really of good quality and suitable for our climate.
So we have chosen two options. In the first case, it was possible to buy only one skein of yarn. I didn't want to buy a lot of yarn right away. At first I wanted to taste their product. This order came first and pretty quickly.
This is a white yarn with equal parts alpaca and cashmere of 100 gram.
The yarn is fully consistent with the description of this on the store's website. The quality is excellent and the yarn is very pleasant to the touch. I liked it.
The second option I was looking forward to. And here is the parcel delivered to us!
In the second online store, I could not order one skein of yarn. They sold at least 5 skeins of 50 grams each.
The yarn is well packed, so the package seems quite small. I cut the package!
The yarn is simply amazing to the touch: soft and delicate. This is exactly what I was looking for!!!! And yes, the description of the product on the store's website is fully consistent with the product!
Made with alpaca and cotton yarn. And the yarn is natural to the touch.
In our country, you can buy yarn from alpaca but in the composition with acrylic, and acrylic is more than 60%. The cost of one skein of such yarn is about 8 dollars. My friend bought this yarn at a discount - $ 7 per skein. You can buy yarn with a high content of alpaca, but it is very expensive in our country.
This natural yarn cost us $6 for a 100 gram skein of yarn. It turns out even a little cheaper than yarn of a more synthetic composition. I think it's a very good buy and I'm looking forward to trying it out.
