Right then, final clue! People have been working along the right lines so I’m confident someone can come up with the answer here.

Let’s give a quick recap on what we know.

• These are all old clubs and franchises
• They are still in existence today
• They have all been successful in various leagues and competitions

Lots of people have focused on their early success and that is undoubtedly a key to understanding the connection but you’re actually looking at success over a much longer period (approx 150 years) for all these teams and their connection. It’s difficult to say more without giving it away.

As a bonus clue it’s probably easiest to work out by looking first at the history of the cricket and AFL clubs and the leagues they’ve been successful in
