Personally, I feel the pitch didn’t change that much. I know the commentators love to talk about ‘the dew factor’ and it can have an impact on games but I saw very little evidence of that yesterday.
For me, the real defining factor was India reverting to type and batting in an overly cautious manner. Part of that is due to their ridiculously long tail but it’s also a failed mentality. Kohil and KL Rahul batted over 100 deliveries without hitting a boundary with many of those balls bowled by Australia’s ‘5th bowler’. Yes the pitch was slow and not easy to hit on but they never showed any intent to do so.
By comparison Head took calculated risks throughout the innings while Labuschagne sat in. One of those Indian batsmen needed to get in and then look to score at a run a ball instead of going at 3 or 4 an over for half the match.
