This reminds me of the saying 'work and pray' to achieve success in anything we do. I think not acknowledging luck into the equation will make it hard to understand how life can be so different to certain people. I used to wonder about this mismatch between effort and outcome, but then I realized that it's not that straightforward and other factors, such as luck, are also at play.
