It was the same thing more or less with my parent, he also wanted me to study medicine but I personally didn't enjoy or was interested in that field. I think self-centred thinking comes from the ability to see other people's reality from our own reality. We have to learn to get outside of our head and consider other perspectives that people have that's different from our own.
