After wanting to be involved in CSA for several years, I became a memeber for the first time this year.
For a family of two, bi-weekly pick ups was all that we needed. The pick up bundles are abundant! And I'm learning so much about different foods that are in season.
For example: I never made a collard dish before. After trying some recipes online, I have to say I am in love with Collards!
I have never used beet greens before, but now I don't want to waste them! I think I'll make them like collards only with less cooking time. If you have a favorite recipe, do share!
Knowing my share of organically grown, local, in-season veggies were hand picked on the same day makes me want to use every last morsal!
I am hoping @healthyrecipe will post about beet greens and even about roasting beets. I have lots of basil and wonder if there is a good beet & basil recipe.
Southern Ontario is very rainy this season, and a little cooler, but the produce is productive so far!
I highly recommend CSA programs, from what I have experienced so far, it is truely worth it!
Please comment, I am very interested to hear about your in-season, local crops and recipes!
