When your fear cometh as desolation,
and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind;
when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
These four things are terrible! They can trouble your heart and they can tear at your soul. These four things are enough to torture your spirit dear reader. They will search you out, in any place and they will even torment you in your bed! Despair, terror, desolation and grief are horrible punishments. Those people who reject God's wisdom get sent these.

Lady Wisdom, she offers wisdom to men who are foolish (Proverbs 1:20–23 )(Proverbs 1:33 ), but to those whom despise her offer, she is vengeful. (Proverbs 1:24–32 ). Because you wouldn't respond to her offer which was so gracious, she will laugh at your calamities, and when you are terrified with fear, she will mock you.
