I was too old for that when these became available in my country. But I remember a British brand Matchbox (crazy, they used to produce stuff in Europe back in the day!). They were made almost all from metal and had opening doors and sometimes trunk or hood (with engine inside), and they were really small and indestructible. So yeah, almost everything was made better in the past, please time-machine me back :)
