This isn't a success story.
I have been here in hive for almost a year and a half, and as much as my dreams looked too far in the beginning, now they're nearer than they were before. I say this isn't a success story because it wasn't my goal, but more of a necessity. It's time for me to put my needs to the front and have that satisfying feeling that I have been longing for since the beginning.
It was high time that I chose myself - high time to make myself a priority.
I have this urge to ask you "What is it that you want to do with the money you got from here?" We all have our reasons to be here and we have our goals set. Whether you like it or not, the primary reason is money. I'm not going to act sanctimonious here - this was much-needed cash, but it became more. Now it is slowly trying to look like a capital. Believe me, I know how it feels like when you're investing your money in yourself. I'm not talking about buying day-to-day stuff; think short or long-term.
So, what am I rambling about?
Last week, the old, busted, a whole lot of crap laptop of mine decided to die on me. I haven't given any CPR or called any doctors (technicians) to check it up. I had thought hard and long, there was no desire left in me to keep working on this piece of junk. Thinking backwards, I had faced similar situations quite a few times and the other times I took the crappy laptop to the nearest shop to get it fixed. But this time was different - no more déjà vu, no more busting my head with the laptop; no more spanking the laptop hoping it might behave, no more making excuses for its poor performance.
Well, after much dramatization, I'm very happy to announce I bought a new laptop.
Yes, buying stuff always gives you a good feeling - buying stuff with your hard-earned money feels even better. After I brought my laptop this Saturday and opened it, it gave me satisfaction (briefly). Perhaps the best feeling is when you make a sizable purchase with your money and it still didn't leave a dent. I can just say that I have bought a new laptop... yay and I could leave it at that - but if you look at it as an investment in yourself, your perception will alter. Right now, perhaps you're doubting if you need a new PC or, a phone or a few sets of clothing and keeping the idea on the shelf, - Don't. I should tell you this after you become a millionaire, the aforementioned things may not matter anymore. But while you're still counting every penny, every little money you spend on yourself is still worth it.

I don't want to go over the specifications of the purchase, right now; it's not important. Let's go over the important stuff:
- I have a functioning laptop
- I'll be able to work on it for the next 2 years or so
- I bought it with the money that I made in hive
The third point is something to think about. While I hear a few fellow hivers (some of them are new and some have spent a few months) that they still can't chase after their dream or that they'll be stuck in a desk job that will eat away at their souls, it doesn't have to be that way. You can actually do what you want with your life, and it will take time but it's a possibility. When I decided I'd buy a new one, it didn't take me long to accumulate what I needed. I still have travel plans and I'll surely fulfill those as well. That backpacking dream that you have, or the business plan that seems too far-fetched, or any other plans of yours, all that is achievable.
Perhaps it's a little achievement story.
