I get the sentimental attachment to the blouse. It can be that way for a lot of people, including me. My sister doesn't like giving out gifts she received. She'd rather buy one of the exact same design to donate.
But then, if you don't use it, why hold on to it...wouldn't that be defeating the purpose for which it was bought?
