When parents make comparison between children, it is usually not to spite them.but to make them see that they, too, are capable of the best.
The bad thing about it is that kids are not mentally braced to see it at that and most parents overdo it.
I also do not appreciate it. We could pass on the message without making those comparisons. They take a toll on the child's esteem.
