My neighbourhood was in a suburb, so there are many residential houses there.
But we lived in apartments. It was a mini flat. There were no shared facilities. You were literally on your own. We didn't have play mates. It was just myself and my brother. We played with everything we saw. Broke chairs and table fighting WWE. Cut clothes and moulded them into footballs.
We got into a lot of trouble because of this. Got our toys seized . Got punished by mum but that didn't deter us. We were born to scatter. Lol.
We did a lot of awful things as kids but the one that stands out is the moment I will tag the "Photowash."
On this day, we were at home for the mid term break holiday. Mum had gone to work. Dad travelled. My older brothers were all at school. So basically we were all by ourself. Our mum having known what we could do had warned us sternly never to touch anything other than our toys. Few days back, we had been scolded for breaking her laptop table while practicing a WWE stunt. Mum was angry. She scolded us for days. Before leaving, she reminded us of what we did days back and gave us an angry lecture on the need to stay off her properties. 馃寶馃寶馃寶
After playing with our toys for some time, we became bored. So we thought of doing something different. We thoughtof getting in mum's good books. We needed to do something to make her forget about our misdoings. So we thought to clean. Well, we decide to wash our photos cos we found a little dirt on them. So that's how myself and Kevin tried to wipe out dirt's from our photos with sponge and soap. Smh. After washing we had the pictures hanged on the rope with the aids of pegs. The pictures were white now. We felt really proud. Like we had done something great. We thought we would get a pat on the back from mum. Little did we know that we we're adding insult to injury. Little did we know that we were adding more crimes to the ones we already perpetrated 馃槀馃槀馃槀
When mum came back and saw what we did. She found it funny than irritating. I think at that point she didn't know if she was going to laugh or cry.
She still reminds us of all that happened though. And we all laugh it out. But this time, we are reminded cruelly because our playfulness and adventurous nature as kids is the reason why we have no childhood pictures 馃槳
