Jamaican Reggae Poster Boards
You cannot miss the announcements for roots reggae music concerts on the seven-mile. They are colorful and prominently displayed, both road and beach side.
Stapled on poles all along the Norman Manley Blvd., on the beach, and by hawking hawkers with bullhorn’s advertising the upcoming music venues,
“Tonight, Tonight At The Bourbon Beach, Live Reggae Music You Won’t Want To Miss!”
These posters are a call to witness what’s happening that week on the beach, for scheduled entertainment at each venue location. It’s a music event that cannot be missed, and MUST be attended.
The sounds of roots reggae music emulating from all around the beach is a must do for all. It doesn’t get any better than that.
The ones that are not free, you will pay a very modest admission fee, usually $10 USD or so. You are then able to access entry to see and enjoy the live venue. Some admissions for well-renowned artists may be a bit more expensive, but usually well worth the still relatively cheap cover charge.
There’s alcohol and the whiff of marijuana in the air. If you want to just hang beach side, that’s cool too, it’s an open space event. The heart beat of these events usually don’t start until 11ish. The fancy vehicles, the gorgeous women, the ‘life’ of the party doesn’t begin until then.
Don’t forget to bring your phone and take pictures, or better yet, set your mode to video. You will want to capture these moments forever.

In 1992, I swiped one of those very Reggae Announcement Boards. Now it sets prominently displayed in my laundry room. You can be witness to it, if and ONLY if, you visit me.
