Don’t be surprised while leisurely walking the 7-mile sandy beach in Negril, Jamaica to witness happenings which arise instantaneously out of pure randomness. TAKE THIS CASE as prime example.
In this photo we were on one of our many daily sojourns walking the beach. He just appeared out of nowhere, this irie Jamaican man. He was young, good looking, and his gig was selling conch shells, star fish, and other various creatures that he had harvested that morning diving deep into the Caribbean ocean blue. He said he had a small skiff that he would take out early in the a.m. when the ocean was calm.
Morning Catch
He said he was easily able to see his ‘prey’ through the clear waters. This was his living, diving for lobsters, conch, and starfish to sell to the many vacationing tourists.
We have met many fine Jamaicans over the years on our travels to Jamaica. Never once has someone denied us taking their photo. It’s a memory and a story in and of itself, which now I am able to share on the reggaesteem.io feed. Hope you all enjoyed this short story.
