The black cloth will certainly help to keep weeds down. I've used it in the past, and it is so helpful. The gardens look great, and everything looks healthy. I used crushed eggshells around my peas and bean plants to keep the snails off. I just save the shells all year long to use during garden season. Have a bountiful harvest.
