I am unaware of how to enter the journal challenge, but I will look into it since I am always doing a garden post.

I cover the hoops with 6mm white plastic using clips. I have the plastic cut long enough to cover the ends to the ground level. I can lift the ends up during the day's heat and easily close them up at night. Or, I can take one side of the plastic roll it over the entire top, and drop it off to one side. Also, I have a shade cloth that I can cover it with as well, sometimes I keep both on when I first plant the seedlings out. Now, I do have half-sheets of greenhouse plastic I can close off the ends with just enough to keep the wind off too. It all depends on each day's weather. I do have to say, it works amazingly well for me. I will do my best @owasco to show how I do it in another post, which should be later next week. I have onions that are almost ready to plant.
