It is hard to believe that the hot summer days are quickly coming to an end. This was our first summer with our little girl "Mika". It was so much fun having a little one to enjoy the days with.
It turns out that she loves sitting on our laps when we are done working in the gardens. Which by the way, she always has to assist by pulling out the plants and shaking the dirt all over herself. Not to mention that she can dig a nice little hole quicker than I can stop her. I guess that is something puppies love to do.
Here she is sitting on my footstool surveying the yard for any incoming squirrels. They don't stand a chance of ever coming up on the porch for a peanut since she arrived. She is a pro at chasing them off and thankfully has not tangled with one yet.
Mika trained us well, each afternoon she sits and waits for us to give her a bone to chew. Here she decided to get up onto the chaise lounge to enjoy her bone time.
Here she is trying to hide one of the bones next to the chair cushion. Which is so funny because she gets it just where she wants it only to return a few minutes later to hide it somewhere else.
On this day she did not want the bone my husband gave her so she walked all over the yard until she buried it among the ferns.
After a while, she finally brought it up onto the porch and placed it with her other bones. I think she tired herself out and had to lie down for a little bit.
Here is my lap buddy taking a little rest on the porch with me. This became an every afternoon ritual after she finished with her bone time. It is the sweetest time of the day for us both.
I just adore having a puppy in my life once again. If you are a pet owner, you know exactly how precious a companion they can be. I have come to prefer animals over the company of humans in my later years. Maybe some of you feel that way as well.
Seriously, how could I resist that cute, happy smile, and twinkling eyes asking quietly for another bone?
Until next time, this is Sunscape
