Every day I get a chance to sit and watch the birdhouses all around my yard as the birds that have taken up residence care for their young.
Here the male is adjusting the grasses in this house. He has been flying in and out all day preparing the nest for the second round of babies.
Here a male Sparrow is landing on top of his birdhouse. This is the one that sits closest to my porch so we get a birds-eye view, :-)
Mom returns to feed the babies. I think there are three of them in the house this time.
Here one of the male sparrows is snatching up a bunch of cat hair that we put out on top of our hemlock for their nests. Every time we give them fresh hair from our cats daily brushing they grab it right away. It must really make the nests nice and soft for the babies.
Here a pair are mating again after the first batch of birds have left the nest.
This birdhouse is a favorite of the little House Wrens that nest here every year. I love this little house and so do they.
I have a few of this type of birdhouse around the yard and each one is full of babies chirping loudly for their meals. We actually got to watch the parents encouraging the first batch of birds to leave the nest last week. What a delight that was.
I captured this Chickadee taking some feathers into the open knot of this little tree that sits at the back of my yard. I was so happy to be able to sit and watch the pair preparing a nest in a natural setting.
Well, for today this post is over and I hope you found it fun to see a little bit of what I get to enjoy each and every day with the birds.
#FeatheredFriends is opening the doors to all kinds of birds thanks to @melinda010100 Share your photos of your feathered friends for us all to enjoy.
