Mallard Ducks

I was so happy to see our annual pair of ducks return to enjoy the yard and our tiny, little pond. This is the third year in a row that they have come and I know they are the same pair. They have the same routine as always and I just love that they are not afraid of our presence. Here are a few photos for some Monday cuteness overload to enjoy.

Coming For Dinner

Lazily Eating Corn

The drake is so funny how he will often lay down while eating some of the corn. The hen on the other hand always stands when eating.

Standing Guard

I find it interesting that one is pretty much on watch detail when the other is busy. She constantly scans the entire yard for any intruders and even chases the squirrels from getting too close.

Swim Break

After eating they love to take a few sips of water and a leisurely swim in the pond.

Neck Scratch

After the swim break, they always eat a little more corn, and off they go to lay in one of the gardens or on my neighbor's pool ledge for a duck nap.

I have been seeing the hen wandering around the gardens looking for the perfect place to nest. I wonder if they will actually do so this year. I would love to have baby ducklings swimming with their parents, how cool would that be? That's all for today friends, have a wonderful Monday.

Until next time, this is Sunscape
