I was walking around this garden taking a few photos of the flowers that bloomed this week. I had my camera close to the Aubrieta blossoms when she suddenly scooted out from the flowers. I have to say, she made me jump back as I didn't know what it was at first.
If you look closely behind the Iris, you can see her coiled up against the purple Aubrieta. I never saw her coiled up there but apparently, she had her eyes on me.
I wonder if she is the same snake that I saw twice in the gardens last year. I know one thing; she has more than doubled in size if that's the case.
I told her wow, you have certainly grown, now I don't mind you hanging out but please let me see you clearly next time I'm working in the garden or taking photos. Hopefully, she got my message loud and clear, ;-) I decided that she needed a name, so I called her Sally. lol
Back to the flowers, this is my favorite of the Dwarf Iris that I have. I adore the baby blue and lavender veining. She is the sweetest addition to this garden in my opinion.
I had transplanted her into this garden last fall as it was growing practically underneath a peony. I was so happy to see it send up a stalk to flower this year.
One of my tree peonies have three large buds this year.
The color is so rich and beautiful with the yellow stamens.
All the globe Allium are in full bloom this week and I don't know how, but I have them showing up in areas that I never planted them. These flowers are all in the west garden that is underneath the Kousa Dogwood tree.
Next week, the Foxglove will bloom on some of the plants that I scattered throughout this garden. I have an entire flat of new plants that I need to find some space for. I can see that the Impatiens are doing well considering the cold temps since I planted them under the tree.
The last of the tulips have dropped all the petals and I cut back the stems to allow the energy to go back into the bulbs. I will see them again next spring.
That's it for today's updates as I need to get out and make up a batch of soil for some grow bags. I have Purple Sweet Potato slips that need planting. It will be a busy day in the garden now that the sun is shining and now rain, yay!
