I am taking it that relatives may not be that big a deal if they have decided to leave you homeless or you don't live around or have any. If such is the case it is probably time you consider a move further out where housing isn't so expensive or to another state. Some states from what I've read will let people homestead if they move there, meaning they'll give you a property if you homestead it. I'd also recommend applying for sec 8 housing subsidies. There may be less competition further out in regards to that also, you may have to be on a waiting list for a couple years but if you can hang eventually it's better than never being on the list. There is hope it's just a matter of determination of what's best for you.
