When my kids were little we went down to Florida for a couple weeks, on the way back we drove up the east coast and ended up going through PA on our way home. We didn't stop in the cities as it wasn't part of our overall plan. But PA had some of the most spectacular countryside scenery, beautiful rolling hills. I think I was more impressed with PA than I was with KY and TN on our way down to Florida. Washington DC though, what a dive, now there's a concrete city.
