So on my way home late tonight I stopped by a major retailer to pick up some stuff. checking out there was a commotion going on between a couple guys. I turned to look at them and one worked at the store and he was refusing to take the bottles from some guy who appeared he may have been a homeless guy, he was pretty grubby. He was upset because he couldn't purchase more alcohol if the guy didn't take the bottles. He than proceeds to try and get the woman overseeing the check out area to take them but he guy tells her not to. So the grubby guy just runs out of the store with the liquor. They are told for their own safety not to run after people who steal stuff from the store so the guy calls the cops. Of course it's late so I doubt the cops will be right on it but they'll probably figure it out after viewing video of the incident...but the question is who else is going to go after the guy or whose going to investigate to find out who the guy is if there's no cops. You think people should just place themselves in jeopardy getting involved in the ruckus? Are people suppose to carry and shot the guy in the leg or something? You know how often this would happen, and actually in many cities it already does happen everyday multiple times a day because people know cops now a days are not readily available where people are being murdered on a daily basis to go run down a drunk stealing a bottle. The only thing that keeps the vast majority of people inline is the fear of going to jail, the small faction that doesn't fear them wreak unmeasurable harms upon communities. The larger a city gets the more that faction increases to the point the average person who isn't a problem decides for their own safety to leave. Next thing you know you have the next Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta on your hands where weekends stop being made for Michelob and are made for murder instead. Sure they are a pain in the butt at times but it would be way worse without them, you'd fear going out of your own home if no one was keeping people in check. Just Chicago alone tells you that, the less cops and the more population the less response, the less response the more brazen they are to commit crimes.
