I think you are to focused on the image and not enough on the background. Go back to the beginning and follow where she is at according to the down ward point triangles are on the fireplace. Use that as a gage to how far forward she moved. Than measure the button on her coat to the end of her hand to get a correlation of how far her arm may have moved outward from the button when she leaned forward. Most importantly take all that and gage it against the position of the purse. With the small movements she made, just in my opinion, it's impossible for the purse to have come to rest completely covering the opening of the fireplace plus some, and it's rather awkward in such a small movement for the purse to have swung so far forward into displaying most of the front of the purse. When it comes to women always look at what the purse is doing...lol.
