The last year has been one of if it could go wrong it did, that on top of this "pandemic" and all the adjustments that have gone along with that. My duplex next door was in a shambles, I shut it down and left it sit there all last winter. It was nice having the whole place to myself but it wasn't a long term reality and I knew I had to carry on and get it fixed up. It really hadn't had a thoroughly going over for about ten years so that made it even worse. Despite it seeming overwhelming I chiseled away at it piece by piece and finally got it done not a minute to soon as it took every last dime I had access to to accomplish it. In the meantime the oven gave out, the washer broke, the car was making weird noises, and a week before the finish line my giant frog died. I spent nearly two months washing out clothes in the bathroom sink on a as needed basis, hanging them over the tub to get access water out then throwing them in the dryer. Lucky summer clothes aren't as bulky as winter, then my son finally went to his storage unit they had, removed everything to get to a washer they had in the back and pulled it out for me. Done and ready to rent by Sept, it's looking like it's beautiful old self again, well as beautiful as a 120 year old house without any modernizing going on, I am going to do a post on it pretty soon, just as soon as I figure out how to get the majority of my "before" pictures off my old phone that also decided after over a decade of having totally quit on me. In the meantime though your post reminded of the one thing I watched transpire all summer, a tomato plant that started growing between the steps and stoop of the porch, I could have pulled it out but there was just something about it encouraging me that if that tomato plant could produce fruit then eventually my labor would produce a similar fruit, one of struggle to survive yet another of life's roughest moments. I'll have to take a picture of it tomorrow, it's going on it's third tomato.
